Does mandrake 9.1 linux support SATA drives?

Running 2.4.21-0.13. I heard that SATA support is not added until 2.4.27… Is there a work around other than running a new version of OS?

There is no work around. The 9.1 version of mandrake is too old. You need to use the 10.0 version that uses the 2.6.3 kernel.
