How to install fedora core linux?

I have downloded fedora core 6 from redhat website. it is a 5 cds installation + 1 recovery cd. none of the cds are bootable. how can I install fedora core on my system? one of my system has winxp installed and other one is empty… I am installing linux for the first time. ….

  1. You need a secondary partition, and also a swap partition.

If you use a partition program such as Partition Magic 8,it will create all the necessary partitions and file systems needed for linux.

You must burn Linux as an ISO image using your burning software, then load the disc into your PC.
Make sure your PC has been set up to boot from a CD drive, this can usually be configured from your BIOS options which can be accessed at start up by pressing F8 or Del

  2. You need to read any install info on the disks, the normal routine for this is that the downloads are iso images, and disk 1 should be burned as a bootable cd. This should then be enough to complete the install. If installing for the first time, load it to the empty system, use that to learn the basics. I have not used any of the red hat based systems for some time, as I have been using Suse, so there may be something in the download to explain how to go, there may also be an admin manual among the documentation.
