How to mound external USB Hard disk on Linux OS (Fedora Core 5)?

I am using Linux OS (fedora core 5). I dont know how to mount external USB Hard disk. It is 100GB. It is formatted as FAT. Could anyone tell me how to mount or automount external USB hard disk.

  1. hey this is simple.

for usb drives linux has special commands.
u hav to try this commands. its has 2 consoles.
    sda1 & sda2
linux will consider ur USB hard disk as a USB pen drive. No prob u can use it as u can.

Insert ur USB hard disk and type the foll command in the console or command prompt.
    #cd /mnt/sda1

if the above does not work.type the following
    #cd /mnt/sda2

it should detect ur drive as USB.

after it mounted ur drive u can use the regular commands such as dir etc.

if u cant able to store files on the disk., u have to give write permissions to the disk. right click and choose "enable read & write permissions" under options.

if u still have problems, plz feel free to mailme at
    yooogobi@yahoo.co.in

    All the best!!!

  2. if it an external USB hardrive it will get detected by itself.
