Linux's Fedora 6……….?
I have Windows XP, and I want to install Fedora 6 also. Is they're a way that I could have them both and choose which one I want to use on start up? I've tried booting it from a cd, but it is way to slow. Please help me out.
- You have to create two partitions on your hard drive (you can use Partition Magic to do this) or use two hard drives. Install XP on one drive and Linux on the other. It's best to install Linux second since it's smarter than XP and will create a boot loader for you. That way when you boot you have a menu and can choose which OS to boot. This is called dual-booting. A google search on it should give you plenty of detailed info.
- yes you can install Fedora 6 onto your computer and have your computer give you the option on startup to use Windows or Fedora.
Fedora 6 on installation as tools to partition the hard drive. You'll need to select "custom partition" and then shrink the size of your Windows partition and set up the partitions needed for Linux.
The installer also will ask you if you would like to configure your system as dual-boot then it will install a boot manager that provide you with the option to choose what system to boot each time.
