Is the Linksys WRT54G router compatible with a Linux operating system?
Basically, I am using Mandriva as a partitoned Linux distro. This router works fine in Win XP, but I dont know where to find the drivers to install it for Linux… I am kind of new to Linux, so thorough instructions to setting up the router in Linux would be greatly appreciated.
- I have version 5 of the router, which doesnt support third party firmware.
- routers are just directing connections to and from computers, so it doesn't matter what kind of system you're using, just make sure the computer is setup and functioning correctly.
- You really shouldn't need any special software to use the router with a linux box. DHCP and all IP traffic should work great.
If you've been experiencing problems with DHCP, you might just set static ip's for your boxen. Other than that, make sure you have the latest firmware for your WRT54G.
- Any tips on optimizing the router (less disconnects etc.) would be greatly appreciated!
