Linux operating system belongs to microsoft corporation ?

  1. NO!! First of all, Linux is NOT an operating system. The Linux organization has developed a very secure and open source kernel, on which many operating systems (called Linux distributions) are based. And Microsoft has it's own range of operating system, Windows, which have about 80% desktop market share. It certainly doen't need to buy Linux.
  2. No Linux is not a Microsoft operating system its an open source code where in you can take the source code form the net and make your own operating system.
  3. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…
Yes its free but u have to buy its once time for ur word & others instla then its tottally free & new version will be offer to you free as well but its not free…………………….
Linux is not onwed by any one……………
  4. nope…linux is one of microsoft's competitors for operating systems…and it's an open source company.
  5. No!!!!!
  6. No. Linix is Open Source
  7. Certianly Not. Linux is developed and owned by the "open source community" as a whole and no one can stake claim to its ownership.
  8. Linux is created by engineers pooling resources. From Europe. Good if you can understand the environment it works in.
  9. No, but they do own 51% of APPLE!!!
  10. No, Linux does not belong to Microsoft Corporation.
  11. The answer is NO! Linux is a free operating system. The first distribution was created by Linus Torvalds in Finland. It's not only free, most of them are even Open Source, so that anyone could modify them for their own purposes.

Microsoft rather acts as an enemy to Linux. Recently M$ threatened the free software world that they would sew them for using their 'patents', which were actually created to get as much money as possible, not to protect their 'mental property'.

  12. nope. but Linux infringed some, about 235, of Microsoft's patents
  13. Microsoft claims that they have software patents that cover various portions of the GNU/Linux operating system. Nobody has seen these patents and Microsoft is most likely using them to spread FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) among people who might adopt it.

If Microsoft were to sue any user of GNU/Linux, they would be crushed by IBM's patent portfolio, as they have a major investment in the system.

I wouldn't really worry about it, it's just scare tactics.
