- The major feature which has made both UNIX and Linux a great success is the presence of Security and Safety.
If a virus affects a particular user, it cannot be spread across another user in the same pc and the same OS as it occurs in windows.
Files created by one user can be restricted in such a way that it cannot be viewed by another user.
And a lot of scalabilty and performance.
- Linux is THE customizable system. You can create or get a build as small as a few dozen MB…Or a build with thousands of programs in it swollen to a few Gigs. That variation space is what makes it unique. Windows and Macs are both fairly bloated, whose installations are never less than a few gigs.
Linux can be customized to where it has ONLY WHAT IT NEEDS, if you are the type to know what tools you want, use, and need. Then that is your system.
- Linux is for embedded systems. UNIX is for rocket scientists.
