What is the best linux OS (Operating system) there is?
- I know someone who is creating a linux OS.
- ummmm I would not prefer linux there is really no stable version of it.
however read up on it and whatever you are trying to run it on you can build your own crap for it and it will run smoother that is what I did on my ipod - slax.org
ubuntu.com
damnsmalllinux.org - I am not clueless. I have been using linux and I just wanted what other people think. Not clueless at all!!!!!
- Well if you are looking at a linux OS Ubuntu is the best so try.
www.ubuntu.com - Unanswerable question.
Some are better for certain uses than others… and the following is just my opinion
I like Ubuntu for a desktop PC
Industry common is Red Hat Enterprise Linux for servers
Knoppix is good for bootable CDs
DSL is great for a bootable stick drive
Lindows is supposed to be good if you want it to look like WindowsAnd of course next year's Linux will be better than this years.
Alternatively, try a few and decide which one *you* like… and that's the best for you.
- Eric T has absolutely no idea what he's talking about. No stable version of Linux? It's arguably one of the most stable OS's ever made…puts Windows to shame. Why are these boards so full of the clueless? <rolls eyes>
The best version for people new to Linux is Ubuntu:
http://www.ubuntu.comUPDATED RESPONSE:
Nicene98, I didn't say you were clueless, I was referring to Eric T who said Linux was unstable. - Unstable?! HAHAHAHA sry *wipes eyes* Ive been using linux for a 4 1/2 months and its crashed 3 yes, 3 times 2 of which are my fault, 1 was RAM overload on a live CD.
I like Kubuntu for HD distro and SLAX and DSL for live usb/CD distros. Oh, thanks for the good laugh.
