1. You can setup your linux machine as a samba server. your samba server can even work as a domain controller for your network which can also contain windows clients. You can also use just ssh,telnet or ftp(your linux server should be ssh,telnet or ftp server respectively). For ssh you need to install putty.

   Winscp is also an option. Just figure out one according to your need.
