I am setting up a Linux server/workstation. Which is the best version of Linux?

Things I want to take into account is ease of use. I'm a moderate level Linux user, I support Linux at work and use it to write code. I also hate compiling software and would rather download/install already compiled RPMs. Thanks

  1. Fedora has an easy GUI installation. It's an RPM-based distribution so there you go. Wikipedia uses mostly Fedoras on their server racks, so I think the reliability is good. I've been using Fedora as workstation since FC2.

  3. Gentoo is the best but if you're new to Linux I would suggest Debian or Suse. All are free! Gentoo you have to build basically from scratch but that way it is more secure because only what you have installed or told it to run is what it runs unlike in WIndows where it installs everything and even every driver for hardware you don't even have LOL Check the Links! If you want precompiled stuff don't go with Gentoo even though they do have a new Graphical Installer I don't like the installer they have now go with either Debian or Suse!
  4. Suse, ….. suse for ever
  5. Redhat 7.3 is THE BEST… but you can use redhat 8..
but pls dude… dont even think of FEDORA..
    ENJOY..
