Whats the difference between hosting on a linux server or a windows server?

  1. Using a linux server you get all the software for free, while with a windows server you need to purchase licenses.

Linux is more efficient with the same hardware

-> you get much more bang for the buck using linux

  2. the difference between the two can be found at

    http://planetnet.com/linux_windows_websi…

  3. using linux or windows….. Windows is a fantastic tool, which is now prone to problems, because it is so widely used. Linux is said to be safer, because less people use it, meaning less hackers, etc….
  4. linux is way over on the gnarly side of the geekometer, dude
  5. these are 2 different servers both have there advantages but the way to see it is as from a security perspective Linux is more secure and is not prone to crashes like windows
  6. In addition to john n's answer, I might add that there are tons of viruses for "Windows", but very few viruses for "Linux".
