Download an os image file over a network.?

hi, I am looking for a program that will let me download an image file over a network. The image will have windows, office ect… I have found Novell ZENWORKS which only works for Novell Platforms but I want to use and install xp with out having to go through the disks one by one on all the computers..

  1. I know I need a server to host the image files and some sort of boot program in dos that will download the image from the server but am unsure of a program that is suitable..
  2. use norton ghost or if your trying to deploy on multilpe pc on your offfice or enterpise use LANDesk,SMS.

there are many software on the net for Deployment purpose..try searching if you dont like what I mention.

    hope this help.

  3. That is so illegal.
You can do it all day with *certain* NON MS Linux distros, but you must buy a license for every MS thing that you want or wish to use.
MS is branded Software, one license per CPU or Hardware Stamp.
Just call Microsoft and ask before you do something that may cost you and any involved their freedom.
  4. You can just use the regular network file sharing option. Just have that other person to copy and paste it from Shared Folder to their desktop.

Or if you really want a program setup a FTP server using Flashfxp.

  5. You can use RIS (Remote Installation Server) for windows. This service is available with Microsoft Windows Server 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003. You have to create an installation image and publish it to the network. Then configure the clients to boot from NIC and you are on…

It is not that easy that I wrote in only few lines.. you can have more knowledge about remote installation from the book.. 'Microsoft Windows server 2003 Administrators Companion' written by Charlie Russel, Sharon Crawford and Jason Gerend. Chapter - 27, page 975 - 998.

Also please go to http://www.microsoft.com/server… for more resources. And http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325862… for step by step instruction. This step-by-step article describes how to use Remote Installation Service (RIS) to install Windows

    Hope that helps you..

    Thank You
