How can I un-install windows and install linux?
My problem is though I cannot access my computer because this is my dads really old laptop computer and he forgot his novell security login p/w and I have no clue how to wipe a drive to begin with. So I have no access. I am downloading the linux cersion UBUNTU… and would like to install. Thanks for the help
- Ubuntu will probably ask if you would like to partition, or in your case, format the harddisk. Pressing F10 during bootup is a key spcificly made for branded computers with restore software built into the computer, so F10 is not an option.
Partitioning is where the hard drive is split up into different drives (virtually) and most likely will not affect the system partition, in which Windows is installed on.
- format the hard disk
- I don't understand what you just said, but install linux and format the hard drive during the install.
PS. You cannot format Windows hitting F10.
- Click F10 as you boot up, and format the computer within that menu. That will completely erase it. Then boot it back up with the Linux disk in, and comprendo. Just install it. =D
