How to delete all Novel and Netware components off my comp?
Netware/Novell was installed on my computer by the school IT department. It never properly installed and has been a nightmare since. I never got a client in my Network Connections, I tried deleting every existing thing associated with the program out of my files and folders and registry. Windows is still trying to launch a sign in with novell when I start up. Therefore it takes about 5 mins to start my computer and shut it down. It then gives me a msg saying unable to launch log-in program or something to that affect. It asks if I would still like to try to log into windows anyways and I say yes and my computer starts up fine. It also takes a LONG time to shut down. This is really inconvenient and I have been putting my comp in hibernation for about a year now instead of properly shutting down. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove this start-up login request and just go straight to windows desktop? Thanks.
- Windows XP and there are none of those Novel clients in my network config props
- You didn't say what version of Windows you are using, so here are some generic instructions.
You will need to remove the Novell Netware client and protocol from your network devices, LAN connection or Dial Up Adapter. You should have a Network Neighborhood or My Network Places icon on the Desktop. Right-click on it and go to properties to get the listing of Network Adapters. Right-click an adapter and go to Properties. This should show you the device name and all the clients and protocols bound to it. Remove the Novell client and NWLink or IPX/SPX protocols.
The only ones you really need for Internet access are the Client for MS Networks and TCP/IP protocol. Reboot.
