Internet connection troubleshooting at my workplace (see details)…?
We have internet connection problems from 8am to 11am every weekday. Our current setup: 1 main router connected to the server; 2 wireless routers, one directly connected to the main router, the other on the other side of the office (we have to put that one there because we are "L" shaped and the wireless can't connect through the elevator shaft.) There are roughly 30 computers wired to the various routers and around 6 using the wireless only.
- I just read in another answer that multiple routers could be causing this. My personal analysis:
- 1. Our provider has been doing work on the network at 1am the past few days, ending this week.
- this could be for more than one reason plus ur own reasons
1- u have spies on ur lan which overloaded ur lan
try spyware(windows defender beta version on microsoft wep page
2- users are downloading or streaming videos or playing games on this period
monitor ur users usage of internet and lan
3- on any reason u have third party application that take resources at this time or gives sources quota to users at this time
determine this application and customize it
4- electricity problems sometimes may affect on routers
try to get an electerian to see if so
I hope u find ur answer in here - 3. According to Novell (our networking software) our setup is inefficient, which causes slowdowns. However, our internal network works fine from 8am to 11am.
- What I've tried so far:
I have downloaded a network monitor on my own computer. It appears to be working fine even though I can't connect to the internet. I can get permission to put a monitor on the server.
I told my boss to get a tech from our provider down here to make sure it's not our connection or our building's hub. The entire building has had problems with recent heavy rains.
- 2. We recently added 8 new computers, so this may be overloading our connection.
- Symptoms: when we try to load a web page, we get either the "could not connect" message, or the box that offers to try to connect using a modem, or the box that says "connect/work offline." In the afternoon, the connection on all computers is fine and the problem cannot be detected. Also, internal email works fine during this time, even though our email server is in canada.
- 4. On all affected computers, the connection is internally detected and says it is working fine.
