LDAP authentication using vb.net and Novell's eDirectory?

I am experiencing difficulty converting an existing asp web, ldap authentication application to vb.net. I need to verify that the user exists in eDirectory and that the form entered password matches their eDirectory password. Does anyone have working sample code they can provide for this simple query?

I would say the easiest way to do it would be with Identity Manager (a novell product) that will synchronize AD w/ eDir amongst other nifty cross platform synchronizations, authentication methods, databases yada , yada, yada…

Once synch'd with AD its relatively simple to make LDAP work right.
