What is novell?

  1. Novell is a company who had a commonly used networking system called guess what "Novell"

Novell is not used that commonly anymore now that windows has built in networking software and the mac as well.

The Novell service seems to be used in networks where it was up and running and the administrator either did not want to distrupt a working system or they were most comfortable and knowledgable about Novell networks rather than the newer windows formats.

  2. Novell is a company that used to manufacture a Network Operating System called Novell Netware. For many years this OS was the leading Network OS before Windows Server dominated the industry.

Novell has discontinued NetWare and has since gone into the Linux direction.

It may be obsolete, but you will still see many corporations still using this rock solid foundation. Some die-hard IT guys will argue this is one of the most rock solid OS's on the market.
