How to send email through c++ programs under unix/linux?

hi,

am looking for an c++ API under linux/unix to send email from inside my program.
Guys, I don't want to use unix command. am looking for an API that can be called through C++ program.
comeon man, you should know this
just use /usr/bin/sendmail
preferably using SMTP libraries.
