Is installing an antivirus program for Linux……..?
….worth doing? How many virus's affect Linux?
- As there are very few to no viruses that target Linux out there, if this is just a stand alone machine I would not worry about it. If you are using this machine as a mail/ftp/web server then it is recommended that you install one to cover the possible Windows viruses that could be served from your machine. ClamAV is the best and it is Open Source.
- No it's totally not worth of doing it.
There are not many viruses for linux around, & to find a active virus is even more rare.
if you are total paranoid then many Distros have a antivirust package called antivir or CalmAV . I don't use it, but you can install it or Apt-Get it. & update the virus databases.
- google it
- Yes it is there are already viruses that affect Linux so install one if your PC is conneceted to the net always
