Tell me a good book to start learning Linux programming ?

I'm a novice in the Linux world. I have knowledge in C. I really wante to know socket programming. So I think I will start with Linux. Then may be jump to the book by Richard Stenven on Network Programming.

  1. I need your suggestion on this, please.
  2. Yes, if you know C programming you will love the Stevens book on Unix Network Programming, as I do. I would also recommend "Beginning Linux Programming" by Rich Stones and Neil Matthew, great book and has a chapter on socket programming. This will kill two birds with one stone, Linux and sockets, but I'd still get the Stevens book too.

Also (for a great and general introduction to sockets) read Comer's book "Internetworking with TCP/IP" again there you will find a chapter called The Socket Interface with example clients and servers in C.

  3. Sumithaba das
  4. My regards to everyone.
  5. You have to take Red Hat linux book or Suse Linux 10 book.
It has basic of unix and Linux. YOu will get CDs to install Linux. ……..so go for it.

Get PDF of Linux book frm this site-
