Well, I m jus installing linux for the first time. It is basically for C programming in Linux environment. Please refer to me some e-books so that I can do my background study on it and know more about it. Thanks for ur suggestions and replies…….

- Xandros is also one..having nice GUI
- For me the most friendly is Knoppix. Ubuntu is not quite intuitive as I expected but both of them are Debian based distros. Debian seems to be more stable.

The Ubuntu distro seems to be the most popular. I would also suggest the "openSUSE" distro. It's put out by Novell and claims to be very user friendly.
