I am 16 yrs old,I want to work in the field of network security when I grow up,what all languages should I kno

is javascript of any use for me….and what is this red hat linux…and where can I get some tutorials or training regarding it

  1. I would maybe start with English first.
  2. u probably need some script language for building your own tool kit, basically network security is not about language, yes, english is necessary. the rest that u need to know is about network protocol, routing, security protocol and etc, check out www.cisco.com, or www.securityfocus.com if u interested of getting more idea what network security is all about.
  3. soak up everything you can.

red hat is just an older form of linux. some of the newer more popular are like ubuntu.

  4. their is this very well known company called retina. and a few others, but I would contact retina's website (www.eeye.com) and email one of their technicians, they should be able to help you.
  5. Network Security would be in 2 ways. To Program in Network Security and to Implement and Monitor Network Security products.

So you can learn any Programming language and try to Develop Some Network Security products.

Or you can do MCSE or CCNA or RED HAT Certification and get into Implementing and Monitoring Section.

If you need any further clarification please get back to me.

  6. red hat is still used by many large businesses and is not old. It still has new releases periodically. If you want to do security then you will have to get a degree in Information Systems. You will have to learn about PIX devices, Bluecoat, and know routers and switches very well. I recommend finding a Cisco certified academy near you. Some schools allow juniors in high school to enroll.
  7. well my high school offered cisco 1,2,3, and 4. which got u certified in basic networking. Use local colleges like itt-tech or metro to do other classes`
  8. start out with html and then go to basic and expand after there to like java or what ever the more platforms your are failure with the more versatile you are
  9. Usually when ur in a IT field you only cover a certain area, in college your sure to learn a little bit of everything but a little programing and html never hurts

  1. Javascript would not be beneficial in a network security field, you need something like CCNA knowledge and Hardware forensics, go to MCMCSE.com and you can look at some things on there. Red hat linux is just one of the Linux versions or flavors (is also what they are referred to as) there is also fedora, Suse, and others. Also you want to read up on sniffers and IDS (intrusion detection software) also look into CEH programs (Certified Ethical Hacker)…look to go to a 4 year school…get an A.S. in networking and an B.S. in ISS Information Systems Security
