Linux installation problem?
Hi, I tried installing Redhat Linux 7.2 on my machine. I run 3400+ 2.4Ghz AMD 64bit, 512RAM, 128 Raedon 9200 Graphic card and 120GB HDD. The rest is standard. The installation goes well up until I have to boot up into the interface. It only boots up into the DOS mode. What is the problem. I think it is my graphics card but I am not sure and how on EARTH do I solve the problem. ThanX
- I agree that there probably isn't a problem with your graphics card. It might be that the version of Red Hat that you are trying to install doesn't recognize the newer equipment. As another response suggested you may wish to try Red Hat sponsored Fedora Core or one of the other highly rated distributions like PC Linux or Ubuntu which both also offer LiveCD's so that you can test them from the CD and verify that everything should work before you install to your harddrive.
- You may want to try Fedora Core 4, sponsored by Redhat. Redhat 7.2 is pretty old at this point.
As far as I can tell, the graphics card should be fine.
