Red hat linux?
will the red hat linux indestery ever make there operating system run 100% compatiable with microsoft and/or mac if so when do u think it will happen
- ah so you cannot live without spyware, malware, virii etc…
- Never; Microsoft don't like Linux and vice versa.
Microsoft=Windows=Internet Explorer - 100% why put microslop bugs on a decent OS?
I've been using Redhat since version 3.0 enhancements in apps and X Windows makes Linux look like a windows system but it is a lot more robust then Windows will ever hope to be.
- I love linux but the drawback is the unavailability to run programs such as photoshop and dreamweaver. I read an article where adobe stated that the linux user margin is too small now to develop its software for linux. Until it becomes more widely used, then that day may come.
Linux has come a long way in the last few years. A lot of os for linux are better than windows. I use ubuntu at work and it works great. Open source technology is catching on pretty well. Its far more affordable than Microsoft. I think the biggest problem is trying to re-train people linux os environments, however, its not very different than Microsoft. Just runs much better and isn't dumbed down so much.
As far as spyware and viruses, that will come when linux is more widely used. That way it can do more damage. It's a catch 22 situation.
- Check out a product called Lindows, which there was a bunch of hype around last year. Also, there is a great Debian based Desktop Linux called ubuntu which is getting great support from the Linux community and one I can personally recommend.
- Linux should never be compatible to Windows. Linux is Unix based and so is MAC OS X. So it is sort of compatible with the MAC.
OS/2 tried to be Windows Compatible (and were) and that ultimately killed the OS because programmers only programed for windows and not OS/2 since OS/2 was Windows compatible. Thus no native programs were developed for OS/2.
The same will happen to Linux is they pushed 100% compatibility with Windows. It will kill off native Linux development - their is a newer version not red hat but another linux that does….cant think of the name right away
