What is the default username and password in Red Hat Linux?

Lyk in case of windows we hv da guest account, wat abt Linux?…..I tried root, but didn't work

  1. GNU/Linux have root and user accounts. root can do anything it wants, and the user have limited permissions. It is advised that you never log in as root unless you have to install software, change config files, basic maintenance "things".

Look in your directories, in /home there should be the username you specified right there. /home/username is the user acct you made. every other file in there is for root permissions only unless you changed them in root. As far as I know, there is not a default user in Red Hat (which is now calle d Fidora) unless you specified one.

  2. There is no default username/password with Linux. Usernames and passwords are assigned when Linux is first installed, usually by the system administrator, who would set up a root account. The administrator would then create usernames and passwords for however many people 'root' would want on the system.
