What is the difference between Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu Linux?

Please help!

  1. Red Hat is owned by Red Hat, Inc. It is a commercial product, and thus it costs money, but has a support network. It also runs off it's own code base as far as I know.

Ubuntu is community driven, which means it support mostly comes through the community (although I believe they also have tech-support on call). Ubuntu is completely free, and it is built off of the Debian code base, so it can share software packages with Debian.
