HP LaserJet 1022n not seen during Windows 98 network install.?

I can access the printer through an IP address, but I can't see it when I try to install it using Windows 98. I have tried letting the software find it and inserting an IP address during the install, but no luck. It installed just fine in XP. We have a Novell network.
