1. unpack

   ./configure
   ./make
   ./make install
   run and enjoy

2. You don't. You use one of the chat programs that comes with SuSE, normally either Kopete or gAIM; one or both should have been included in the install process.

   Both allow you to use multiple messenger programs at the same time (I.e. MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, etc…).
