I am installing suse linux 9.2 OEM edition on virtual PC 2004. I get an error: Kernel panic. How do I bypass?

PC: Hp-Compaq dx6120

  1. RAM 512 MB
  2. Processor: Intel PIV 2896Mhz
  3. What is the kernel panic's error message? Kernel panic's don't occur too often with new installs, so it's probably something pretty important.

You might consider giving openSuSE 10.1 a try. It might have kernel updates that let it work from within a Virt PC environment.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Virtual environment: VHD-10GB, VRAM-128mb
  5. HDD: SATA 80GB
  6. O/S: Windows XP SP2
