I installed a program in suse linux 10.2. How can I run it?
I`m new to linux. The package is rpm.
- by install(-ed), do you mean downloaded?
if so, you need to run package, SuSE's RPM utility to install it.
don't have a SuSE install handy right now, but it's in one of the sub-menus.
alternatively, you can use Konqueror (or Nautilus, in Gnnnome) to navigate to the folder where you downloaded the program, right click on it and open it with Package - try the help files!?
- Did you run the rpm then? The rpm does the installation so I'll assume you did. Its kinda of like an msi file on windows.
Because the way you run each file on linux is different, you'd need to tell us what program you installed.
Some programs will link to your "start menu applications" so you can easily click & run them. Others will start if you run them from the console.
Your best bet is to go through the documentation for the product on their website. - check out the help program that comes with it, or email the makers of the software for help
- Use the help files to find out. (I'm not to sure myself you see) Sorry that I can't be of any help xxx
- Run a console window.
Change directories to the directory containing the program.
If you do not know how to change directories, type "man cd".
If you are not familiar with files and directories, type "man ls".
Change directories to the directory containing the program.
Type "./" followed by the name of the file that the program resides in.
For example, if the name of the executable is "foo", type "./foo".
