Is it possible to use Suse Linux with Windows on the same machine?

  1. yes, you can dual boot with your Windows operating system.

just use SUSE Linux installation disc 1 (make sure you have downloaded all the other 4 installation discs) to boot your system & then SUSE will automatically resize your existing Windows partition & create new Linux partitions. SUSE will do the dual boot setup automatically as well.

  2. yes man u can use it easily by allocating different partitions n installing linux on one n windows on the other. but b sure that whatever u do, do it correctly n know that how to uninstall when u don't need the same.
  3. Both are two different operating system.

You can install 2 different windows on a computer and it will ask you to chose which one to load when you start up.

I don't know if that is true with Suse Linux and Windows.

  4. Yes it is.
you have to install a bootloader (lilo / grub)
  5. Yes. Duel Boot, or vmware.
  6. Yes, but you must partition the hard drive. Suse, like other Linux distros may have a partitioning guide as part of setup. You will end up with a dual boot PC where when you boot you will choose which operating system to boot into.
  7. You can use Vmware . It stands for virtual machine . It creates a virtual machine on ur current desktop and u can install any OS u want in it. For ex u can run a windowsXp in VM on a windows XP machine . Similarly a linux distro on windows or vice versa.

I hope this answers ur problem
