Need help with Vodaphone G3/GPRS PCI card on SuSE Linux?
I was just given a shiny used Vodaphone G3/GPRS card for my Dell D610 Laptop. When I insert the card it sees the card as a G3/GPRS card. I am now stuck. How do I set up the card to work? I am using SuSE Enterprise Linux Desktop (SLED) 10.
- I had checked Google. They all show reviews and where to buy but nothing on how to set it up. I tried Vodaphone but they "Don't support Linux" and won't even try and work with me.
- Linux is notorious for not supporting certain wireless devices. Why you may say? Not because it isn't a good kernel/operating system, but because a Windows delevoper gets paid to develop, where as a Linux developer mostly likely is volunteering to develop something for the communities sake. Also a windows developer has to meet deadlines or risk termination, a Linux developer is mostly his/her own boss. To answer your question, you may need to use a Windows emulator like "wine", but I don't know if that will play with your hardware any better.
