Why cant I install SUSE Linux on my Compaq Presario 2528EA laptop?
After loading install system nothing happens. When I chose to install it again, it is the same thing. When I reboot the system it loads Windows….
- It's not working
I tried it unpartitioned - nothing.
Then I tried it partitioned but not formated (with norton partition) - nothing.
Then I tried it formated as Linux Ext2 (just for the test) - nothing again
Does somebody have another idea?
- Are you sure there is unpartitioned space for it? Linux Disto's don't use the NTFS (or usually FAT for that matter) and you'll need to have unpartitioned disk space to install it. Most vendor laptops don't have extra unpartitioned space on the hard drive - it's all on the Windows root partition and you can't install a Linux Distro on Window's root partition.
Hope this helps, and elaborate more on how far you get for a more thorough answer.
